Every LINNAEUS plate comes from a book. These are the books, the people who made the drawings, and the year each was published. All are in the public domain. We clean the page and set new type; we don't redraw the plates.

A note on names
Many of these books use Latin names that have since changed. On each plate we print the name in use today and keep the book's own name in the legend, because both are part of the story.
Most of these books can be read in full, free, through the Biodiversity Heritage Library and the Internet Archive.
