Scientific accuracy is a hard design requirement for every LINNAEUS plate.
Research comes before illustration. We establish the accepted scientific name, consult authoritative descriptions, identify meaningful diagnostic features, and select the specimen studies appropriate to that discipline.
A botanical plate may include foliage, reproductive structures, fruit, seed, or a sectional study. A mycological plate may combine macroscopic form with microscopy. A bird plate may focus on bill, foot, feather, or flight anatomy. We do not force every organism into the same decorative template.
Each numbered detail must have a biological reason for being present. Labels must describe what is actually shown. Enlarged microscopic structures must read as enlargements, not as life-size objects. Where a structure's function remains scientifically unresolved, we say so.
Our standard is simple: a knowledgeable member of the relevant field should recognize care, not an avoidable mistake.
